Google/New York Times

For over 100 years, The New York Times has stored its clippings and photos in an underground archive called the “morgue.” Now, The Times is giving new life to millions of historic photos with Google Cloud. By entering all the data on the back and front of the photos, including date, photographer, story ideas, headlines, and more, journalists have all of that information at their fingertips, accessible in seconds.

An AR-enabled campaign gave viewers the chance to step into these photos’ untold stories and experience Google Cloud technology first hand.

Print and OOH invited the viewer to use their phones to explore the ad deeper. With Google Cloud’s technology, they could discover more content hiding within the historical photos. Scanning the ads took you to a web experience.
